Frequently asked questions

What happens during a session?

Sessions begin with a group discussion around a STEM concept. Initially, this is focused on coding, but as the sessions progress, we expand into broader physics and engineering ideas. The group then splits into pairs to work on building and coding their robots. Towards the end of the session, everyone comes back together to reflect on their learning and reinforce the key concepts covered.

What resources do you use for the sessions?

Our first-year curriculum is based on Lego Spike®. Children work in pairs to construct a robot and then code its movements and functions. The session includes a series of challenges designed to deepen their understanding of the coding blocks introduced during the lesson.

Do you offer continued classes after the trial session?

Yes! Our plan is to start a new group after the February half term. Sessions will run at the same time as the trial session (5:30 pm). Additionally, we currently have a group in their second term, meeting on Mondays at 6:30 pm.

Can I sign up for just a few sessions?

To ensure the best experience and learning for the group, we ask for a commitment for the full term. If a child or group joins after the term has started, the commitment will be until the end of the current term.

Do parents need to stay during the sessions?

Parents are welcome to stay, but we kindly ask that any guests allow the children to focus during the session. If it’s more convenient for you to leave, that’s absolutely fine. However, we do request that you stay for the first 10 minutes of the initial session so we can share all the necessary information.
